SNOO uses a one-size fitted bassinet sheet shaped for its mattress pad. A standard crib or mini-crib sheet is not interchangeable, and a generic bassinet sheet is only appropriate if its maker specifically states that it fits SNOO and it stays smooth, tight, and secure on the actual pad.
Quick answer: Start with two fitted sheets. Add a third if laundry is infrequent, spit-up is heavy, or overnight leaks are common. Use only a properly fitted sheet over the supplied mattress and protective cover—never a loose flat sheet or improvised bedding.
What size sheet fits SNOO?
Happiest Baby sells its SNOO fitted sheet as one size. The official product page does not give a universal crib-sheet size that shoppers should substitute. That matters because “bassinet size” is not standardized enough to guarantee a safe fit across differently shaped pads.
The safest buying language to look for is not merely “oval bassinet sheet.” It is “designed to fit SNOO” followed by a return policy that lets you confirm the actual fit.
An appropriate fitted sheet should:
- wrap securely around the supplied mattress pad
- remain smooth without bunching or deep wrinkles
- stay attached when the pad is handled normally
- avoid thick padding, quilting, or added cushioning
- leave the SNOO Sack clips and surrounding hardware unobstructed
If you can pull the sheet loose easily, it slides off a corner, or excess fabric gathers on the sleep surface, do not use it.
Are SNOO sheets the same as crib sheets?
No. Full-size crib sheets and most mini-crib sheets are much larger and differently shaped. Folding, tying, pinning, or tucking an oversized sheet under the pad does not turn it into a fitted sheet.
Do not use:
- a standard crib sheet folded under the pad
- a loose flat sheet
- an adult pillowcase
- a changing-pad cover unless the maker specifically approves it for SNOO
- a mattress topper or padded waterproof cover
- clips, pins, elastic straps, or homemade ties to force a fit
The CPSC's safe-sleep guidance says a baby's sleep space should be bare except for a fitted sheet. “Fitted” describes how securely it fits this mattress—not simply an elastic edge somewhere on the product.
Official vs third-party SNOO sheets
The official organic cotton SNOO fitted sheet was listed at $24.95 before temporary discounts on August 22, 2026. Happiest Baby also offered a three-sheet bundle. Prices and colors change.

How many SNOO sheets do you need?
For most families, two is the functional minimum:
- one on the mattress
- one clean backup
Three is more comfortable when:
- the baby spits up often
- diaper leaks are common
- laundry runs only once or twice per week
- the bassinet is used for every nap and night
- you want a clean replacement without running a midnight wash cycle
More than three is usually unnecessary unless laundry access is limited. The bassinet stage is short, so do not build a twelve-sheet color collection before learning what you actually use.

How the mattress layers should work
Use the components provided and approved in the current SNOO instructions. The usual logic is:
- supplied mattress pad
- supplied protective cover in its intended position
- one thin fitted sheet
- baby secured in the correctly fitted SNOO Sack
Do not add a second sheet for warmth, a folded towel for reflux, a soft topper for comfort, or an unofficial wedge. If your mattress or protective cover is damaged, replace it with the manufacturer-approved part rather than building a homemade layer.
How to wash SNOO sheets
The official sheet page currently advises washing in cool or cold water with like colors and tumble drying on low. Always follow the care label on the sheet you own, because fabric blends and third-party instructions differ.
A practical routine:
- Pretreat stains without leaving a heavy residue.
- Wash fragrance-free if scents irritate your household.
- Avoid overloading the washer so the elastic is cleaned and rinsed.
- Dry at the label-approved temperature.
- Let the sheet finish drying before placing it on the mattress.
- Recheck the elastic and fit after every wash.
High heat can wear elastic and may shrink some cotton fabrics. A sheet that fit before laundry still needs to pass the fit check afterward.
When to replace a fitted sheet
Retire a sheet when:
- elastic no longer grips the pad
- seams split or fabric tears
- the material has shrunk enough to pull the pad out of shape
- permanent bunching creates an uneven surface
- bleach, heat, or damage has weakened the fibers
- the sheet cannot be fully cleaned after contamination
Staining alone is cosmetic if the fabric remains clean, intact, and correctly fitted. Structural damage is the real stopping point.
Can you use a SNOO sheet in another bassinet?
Only if the other bassinet's manufacturer approves the fit or the sheet fits its supplied pad securely without altering the sleep surface. Matching “oval” shapes by sight is not enough.
Never replace the other product's mattress, pad, or fitted-sheet instructions with SNOO components just because they appear close in size. Bassinet mattresses and sheets are product-specific safety parts, not mix-and-match nursery decor.

Before placing a baby down:
- Confirm the correct mattress and protective cover are installed.
- Pull the fitted sheet fully around every edge.
- Smooth the surface and look for bunching.
- Confirm the pad remains flat and is not bowed by a tight sheet.
- Keep all other bedding, toys, pillows, positioners, and blankets out.

The AAP recommends a firm, flat sleep surface with no loose bedding. Product features do not cancel the basic bare-sleep-space rule.
