We bought our SNOO used on Facebook Marketplace. My husband was about to go back to work, and staying up rocking the baby until 6 AM wasn't going to work anymore. We needed help, but a new SNOO was a lot of money.
If you're weighing SNOO rental against buying, the monthly price is only part of it. Renting has fees. Buying may cost less after resale, but only if you actually sell it. Enter your own numbers below to see the difference.

Choose monthly or prepaid pricing, not both. For a prepaid plan, enter the full price and the number of months it covers. Returning a six-month minimum plan early does not mean you only pay for the months you used. The calculator won't estimate an extension beyond the plan unless you update its price and length.
Add taxes, extra bedding and any app subscription to the appropriate cost fields. Enter your expected resale price before fees, then put selling fees or delivery costs in their separate field.
The deposit is excluded from the final rental cost because the calculation assumes you get it back. It is included in the estimated starting payment. That estimate also assumes anything entered under other rental costs is paid upfront, so it may differ from checkout if some charges are collected later.
Five months of renting versus buying
Using the monthly example:

Buying new for $1,695 and later selling for $800 would cost $895 before tax or extras. That's $59 less than renting for five months. Add $75 in selling fees or delivery, though, and buying costs $970. Renting then wins by $16.
The purchase calculation is:
Purchase price + extras + selling costs − resale price.
That $800 resale figure is an example, not a prediction or what we sold ours for. Look at what similar units actually sell for locally, not just what people ask. If you plan to keep yours, enter zero resale value.
When does buying become cheaper?
At $159 a month plus $159 in one-time rental fees, a $1,695 purchase with no resale value catches up in month 10. That's longer than the usual SNOO stage for one baby. A discount, resale or use for another child would need to change the comparison.
With an $800 resale price and no extras or selling costs, buying catches up in month five. The calculator shows the first whole month when buying costs the same or less, assuming the fees and resale estimate stay unchanged.
A prepaid plan works differently. The $499 example plus $159 in fees costs $658 whether you use it for three months or all six. There isn't a monthly break-even point within that plan. Compare the full rental price with your net purchase cost instead.
What comes with a rental, and does the app cost extra?
Happiest Baby says a rental comes with two new SNOO Sacks, in small and medium, a fitted sheet, a mattress and a water-resistant cover. Its reconditioning details explain what gets replaced between families. Check the bundle in your offer before buying extras.
Premium app access is included during an authorized rental plus one month. Authorized new and certified pre-loved purchases include nine months. Secondhand buyers can use the free features or pay for Premium; the previous owner's subscription doesn't transfer. Check the app terms and add any subscription you want to the purchase-extras field.
Which option fits your family?
Monthly renting may suit you if you only need a short stretch and don't want to sell a bassinet afterward. Check the minimum term first. A one-month minimum and a six-month prepaid commitment are very different purchases, even if both are called rentals.
Buying used is worth comparing if you can find a complete, working unit at a good price. Buying also gives you the option to keep it for another child. That means storing the bassinet between babies, and it still takes more cash upfront than the net cost after resale suggests.
We chose used. It wasn't an instant fix: the first week took some adjustment before we got that first two-hour stretch. I've written more about that in our first three months with a newborn. We would have gotten the SNOO earlier.
Buying used: a few things to check
Ask the seller to turn it on and demonstrate it. Check the mesh, sack clips, mattress, cord, legs and attachments. Find out which sacks and sheets come with it and price anything missing. Check the serial number against recall notices, and don't assume a warranty transfers to you.
The little O-rings can wear out and need replacing. It's a motorized bassinet, so parts can break and a used one may need repairs. Ask about past repairs and listen for clicking or grinding when the seller demonstrates it. Leave some room in your budget for that, too.

Here's a look at the underside. The legs come off and the power cord plugs into the bottom, which was convenient when we took ours to hotel rooms on small road trips. It was somewhat easy to pack, but heavy enough that I made my husband carry it to and from the car.

Returning a rental
Start the return through your Happiest Baby account and pack the unit and included accessories in the original box and inserts. The rental period ends when the designated carrier takes possession, subject to your minimum rental term.
Keep that box. Happiest Baby lists a replacement box and inserts at $79.90 including shipping, plus tax. Return shipping is $59.50 plus tax in the contiguous US, with higher charges for Alaska and Hawaii. Damage or missing items may mean additional charges. Read the return policy before packing it up.
