The Mockingbird Single-to-Double stroller can carry one or two seated children, and it can add a standing rider with the Riding Board. The confusing part is that not every seat, bassinet, car seat, or adapter works in every position.
The fastest way to build the right setup is to start with the children you need to carry—not with a cart full of accessories.
The three rules that prevent most configuration mistakes: Double mode requires a Single-to-Double frame and a 2nd Seat Kit. The stroller can hold only one Mockingbird Bassinet at a time. A third child rides on the Riding Board; the frame does not accept a third seat.
Specifications and compatibility were checked against current Mockingbird materials on August 23, 2026. Recheck the stroller manual and the manufacturer's configuration tool before using a new combination. The primary references are Mockingbird's Single-to-Double Stroller 3.0 product and configuration page and its setup page with current and older instruction manuals.

First, identify which Mockingbird frame you own
The Single Stroller is permanently a one-seat stroller. No version of the 2nd Seat Kit converts it into a double.
The Single-to-Double Stroller has the frame connections needed for a second seat. Mockingbird says its 2nd Seat Kits work across generations of the Single-to-Double, but never on the Single frame.
If the model name is not obvious, find the white product label on the inside-left area of the frame near the basket. Record the model, production information, and five-digit lot number. That label is also what you need for a Mockingbird recall check.
One-child configurations
Standard toddler seat
With one Toddler Seat, the current 3.0 Single-to-Double is listed for a child up to 50 pounds and 42 inches. The seat reverses so the child can face the caregiver or the world.
Mockingbird does not present the standard seat by itself as the newborn setup. From birth, use the Bassinet, an Infant Seat Insert in the fully reclined seat, or a compatible infant car seat and the exact adapter.
Infant car seat
The word “compatible” is not specific enough. A brand can have models that use different adapter families, and a newly released seat may not be approved just because an older model from the same brand is.
Use our Mockingbird car-seat compatibility chart, then verify the exact model name on the seat label against Mockingbird's current selector.
Bassinet
The Bassinet creates a flat stroller setup and can be used until the baby reaches 20 pounds or begins pushing up on hands and knees, whichever happens first. Mockingbird only identifies the Bassinet as approved for overnight sleep when it is attached to the exact Mockingbird Bassinet Stand and used according to those instructions.
Infant Seat Insert
The Infant Seat Insert supports a newborn in the fully reclined Toddler Seat. It is more compact to store than the Bassinet and keeps the stroller seat available for later use. On a 3.0 seat, remove the reversible seasonal liner before installing the insert rather than stacking the two layers.
Two-child configurations
Every two-seat setup starts with the Single-to-Double frame and the 2nd Seat Kit. The kit supplies the second Toddler Seat and the adapters that create the upper and lower positions.
Two toddler seats
Both Toddler Seats are rated to 45 pounds in double mode. That equal limit simplifies sibling and twin setups because one seat is not reserved for the smaller child solely because of a lower rating.
The children's weights still affect steering, curb handling, and basket access. Start with a configuration shown in the manual, buckle both children, and test the setup on level ground before a crowded outing.
Newborn plus toddler
The newborn position can use a compatible infant car seat, Bassinet, or Infant Seat Insert setup. The older child uses the second Toddler Seat. Which child faces which direction depends on the approved combination and the adapters in use.
Do not force a seat into a position because it appears to fit. The click-in points, center of gravity, and clearances are part of the configuration.
Twins from birth
The key limitation is simple: one Mockingbird Bassinet maximum per stroller. Twin newborn configurations therefore use two compatible infant car seats, two Infant Seat Insert setups, or another combination explicitly shown by Mockingbird—not two bassinets.
There are also car-seat-specific twin restrictions. For example, UPPAbaby Aria and Mesa Max seats appear in the broader compatibility system but are not approved as a two-car-seat twin configuration. Check both the adapter and the twin column in the compatibility chart.
Adding a third rider
The Riding Board is the only Mockingbird path for a third child. It attaches behind the stroller and lets an older child stand or sit. Mockingbird describes it for a child who can sit and stand independently, hold the handlebar, is at least about 26 inches tall, and weighs no more than 55 pounds.
Before relying on it:
- confirm compatibility with the exact stroller generation;
- practice the caregiver's walking stride around the board;
- check that the board rider has a stable handhold;
- expect a larger turning radius and more effort on slopes; and
- never treat the basket or frame tubing as another riding position.
Why some configurations will not work
Two bassinets
The frame supports one Mockingbird Bassinet, even in double mode. A second Bassinet is not an approved configuration.
A second seat on the Single Stroller
The Single and Single-to-Double are different frames. Buying a 2nd Seat Kit does not add the missing connection points to a Single Stroller.
Any infant seat with a same-brand adapter
Adapter approval is by exact car-seat model. Britax B-Safe and Willow models, for example, use different Mockingbird adapter families.
Three installed seats
The stroller has two seated-rider positions. The third-child setup uses the Riding Board, not another Toddler Seat or infant car seat.
Configuration setup checklist
- Confirm Single or Single-to-Double on the frame label.
- Record the stroller generation and lot number.
- List each child's current weight, height, and developmental stage.
- Match each child to an approved seat, insert, bassinet, car seat, or board.
- Verify the exact adapter family and position.
- Pull up on every installed component after it clicks into place.
- Check harness routing and buckle fit for both seated riders.
- Test the empty stroller, then test with the children on level ground.
- Recheck limits as children grow or accessories change.
