We have lived in our home for 9 years now. It was built new, but I swear NONE of the counters and carpets were the colors we chose. It’s always kind of annoyed me but to be honest revamping these things is costly and with the costs of everything else they are low priority. My counter tops were in particular need of help. My countertops were replaced about 2 weeks after we moved in because there were cuts in them. It appeared as if someone cut off the wrapping and got too close to the countertop with the cutting tool. It bothered me and it was a new house, so I made them replace them. The new ones were better.
They were a pretty light color (beige and tan), and really showed the wear. There were a couple things that had for whatever reason stained the countertop. It’s light, it wasn’t difficult to do. I’ve been hunting around and looking at solutions and we had just decided this would have to wait until it was more affordable or we could find a solution that we KNEW we would love. And then came Giani.. I’m the first person to admit, when I looked at the site, I thought “No Way!” There is no way this is going to transform my countertops and no way it’s going to look as amazing as the website shows. I am always very skeptical of things, so this wasn’t any different. Well.. I was truly mistaken with this product!
Giani not only transformed my countertops, it looks AMAZING! I’ve had a couple people comment on how nice my new granite countertops look. It’s our secret, we don’t have to tell them it’s not really granite! I am pretty much in love with the new and updated look. Giani goes on in 5 easy steps. Honestly the key to making them look amazing is to let them properly dry! The instructions said the base should dry 8 hours, minerals 4 hours and the final coat for 72 hours before replacing things on it. We completed step 1, the primer base coat, before we left to go up north for the night. It dried all day, through the night and through the next day. It was very dry when we returned home. You can’t OVER dry so it’s better to error on too much then not enough. When we got home I decided to get started and completed Step 2, which was mineral number 1. I let that dry a few hours. I felt it was pretty dry and safe to complete the next step. Since you sponge on the mineral you really can’t do it wrong. You really pick your own look with how much or how little you add for the mineral color. In this case, the Chocolate Brown, the black base wasn’t really supposed to show. We liked it though, so we let it continue to peek through!
Step 3 and Step 4 were two more minerals. They were 3 shades of brown that all blended together very nicely. Again, since you are sponging this on you can add less of a color, more of a color, or even purchase additional lighteners for your look. If you want a less of a “clumpy” look then we had you should sponge ALL your minerals on at the same time (in 2ft sections). I LOVE that this is so customizable! It’s honestly a lot of fun and was GREAT to watch the countertops transform!
We added the top coat the next evening and then I REALLY started to love the look! I couldn’t wait to put the kitchen back together and see how amazing this made the room look. Since my kitchen, dining room and living room are pretty much one room (it’s an open concept floor plan) it really has made the WHOLE house look so much nicer. At this time, my husband still wants to transform the cabinets and coat them in black. I DO think that will be a nice look, but I am skeptical. I don’t want to mess them up because we have A LOT of cabinets! So here’s my before and after:
My kitchen is huge so this is just one section.. but what do you think? It looks awesome huh!! I am really amazed with the results and honestly it turned out FAR better then I thought it would. I don’t know WHY I thought it wouldn’t work, I just thought there is NO way it would. I am so happy I was wrong and even happier with the end result. Honestly, my countertops had nothing to lose. They were old and boring and needed to be updated. Giani was PERFECT for us!

I would get Sicilian Sand. My counter tops now are old and white. They have tiny pores, which absorb dirt. In no time, they look so dirty. With the Sicilian Sand, they would still be light, but shiny and new looking. How I need this makeover for my counter tops. I still have the original counter tops from 1974.
Would love the “chocolate brown” color for sure!
