Good-bye Mop! Hello Hoover!

I am not really a fan of cleaning. I do it frequently because I have severe anxiety about having a dirty home, but if I never had to clean again, I would NOT be sad. I am always looking for time saving products and products that are helpful to me. Some of you may know, I suffer from a muscle disease. Some days are better then others, but I lack a lot of strength that I SHOULD have. Because I don’t it is hard for me to do some things around the house. Thankfully I have help. I don’t like to ask for help more then needed though and I will TRY to do things myself before asking. Recently I was given the opportunity to try the new Hoover Floormate. I was excited about this because I have laminate flooring in my dining room and kitchen and vinyl flooring in my bathrooms. I sweep and mop them at least 3 times a week. It’s a hard process for me because I have a hard time lifting up the mop bucket to empty it. I can’t leave it sit because I have a small dog.

When the FloorMate arrived I was amazed at the weight. The WHOLE thing weighs about 23-24 pounds. It’s easy to push and pretty light if you DO have to lift it. I didn’t have to lift it for anything though. If you look at the FloorMate you will see there are 2 tanks on it. The top tank is for the clean water and solution. It doesn’t take much, 2oz. I use FAR more floor cleaner then that when I mop. The bottom tank holds all the dirty water and the dirt.

The tanks themselves are light weight. They snap in and out VERY simply. When I started cleaning, I filled up the top tank with hot water and the 2oz of floor cleaner. I replaced the tank and plugged the FloorMate in. I used the first setting which is “vacuum” and went over the floor. The bottom of the FloorMate is nice and sleek and thin. It fit under the cabinets with NO troubles! I was able to get in nice and close to the places crumbs love to hide! I vacuumed up everything. JUST to make sure it got everything, I took out my broom and tried to sweep. I found nothing on the floor to sleep. So far, I am in love with this machine! I decide to go ahead and flip the switch to “wash” setting. When you are doing the wash there is a little trigger in the handle you have to push to get the solution to come out. The brushes on the bottom start spinning and it scrubs! I went over areas in my mud room which are always dirtier from hubby’s work boots and our shoes. It cleaned up very simply. If you go over too much and have a little pool of water it is no big deal. Simply set the dial to “dry” and it will pick up the access water. Remember that bottom tank? It doesn’t need to be removed until you are done! It collects the dirt from the vacuum and the dirty water from the washing. I honestly didn’t think my floor was THAT dirty because I JUST mopped it 2 days ago.

This is what I found in the tank when I was done with my kitchen! I was disgusted because I had JUST mopped 2 days before. The more my husband and I talked, the more it made sense. When you mop, you are putting that dirty water back on the floor to “clean” so really you would need to CLEAN your water with each dip of the mop! That sounds like A LOT of work. The FloorMate keeps the clean and dirty water separate so you are using only CLEAN water to clean the floor. I can honestly say that I am in love with this product.
