We love the Madagascar characters in our house. They always bring a smile to the faces of the kids and hubby and I can enjoy them as well. They are GREAT for family movie night. New to the Zoo is available as of August 10, 2010 and is a great edition to the Madagascar family of movies. The movie features 8 episodes in in each one introduces a new character to the zoo. It contains a lot of humor and wit that we have grown to love from these movies. My kids watched this for DAYS in a row. I was beginning to think I was at the ZOO! I didn’t mind because of course I got a chuckle here and there from it too. The DVD is 88 minutes long, is not rated and is available in Widescreen. Madagascar is an Emmy and Annie Award winning series!

Also new to the series is Happy King Julien Day! This DVD features 8 Julien filled missions in tribute to the wacky king of the jungle. Happy King Julien Day is available as of August 10, 2010. The DVD is 88 minutes long, is not rated and is available in Widescreen.

You never can go wrong with the Madagascar series. The kids love them, adults love them. They are all around fun animals that bring a smile to everyone’s face!

We are HUGE fans  if SHOUT in this house. I can’t say enough about it and I know that SHOUT has saved me so much money. My kids LOVE to play and they play hard. I think any mom {and dad} that does laundry has dealt with the dreaded grass stains. Personally for my family we deal with them all fall long, pants weather. In the summer, the stains are on the skin and well SHOUT has developed a body wash yet, so another product has to do!! But my clothes are ULTRA clean and I owe that thank you to SHOUT!

I wanted to share a SHOUT tip with you my readers… one that has been absolutely FOOL proof for me and has helped me get even the toughest stains out of our school uniform khaki’s. For really tough stains, I put shout on the stain, rub it in a little with a small scrub brush, add a little more shout to the stain and put the entire item in a small container with COLD water. When you are ready to wash, spray again with a small amount of SHOUT and wash as you normally would. When the washer cycle is complete, check your items BEFORE placing them in the dryer. If the stain is still there, repeat. However in 9 out of 10 cases my stain is gone. But the dryer CAN set a stain so it’s best to check in case. I’ve saved so many uniform pants and jeans. As a mother of two very active children, I can say this has ALWAYS been my method to attack dirt and grass stains. I’ve never been disappointed!!

Yesterday afternoon we had some pretty severe storms. There was hail that was gum ball size and even bigger in some areas. We live in the Midwest, you are bound to get some storms. We lost power briefly for a few minutes about 3-4 times. I normally wouldn’t blog about this type of thing, but for some STRANGE reason I am inclined to…

After the storm, this is what the bottom of the driveway looks like:

We live up on a raised area or a little hill if you will, so we never get much in the yard. The driveway is a nightmare though! The water was shin deep… Yeah, let’s use body parts for measuring! Down the road a little, it looked like this:

There are no curbs. Water pools are just up on the front lawns and the ends of driveways are missing. It was fun for the kids though. They were {even some before the storm STOPPED} riding bikes and playing in it. Personally this is as wonderful as sewer water and my kids would not be found playing in this mess, but to each their own right?!

My husband had to leave for work, mind you his truck is an SUV and it does have additional “height” on it, this standing water was STILL up to the bottom of his truck!

What a nice mess huh? It took several hours for a lot of the water to go down the drains. There was still quite a few standing pools of water this morning and several cars stalled in the middle of the roads. But alas it was a storm, right? That was until I was brought this:

I was not brought this tonight, around oh… 7:00pm! Yes, this is my son’s Nintendo DS case and 11 games that were inside… all. SOAKED! I have no idea if any of them will work again. I can only imagine the amount of money LOST in this case. I am so upset, depressed and everything in the middle. I can not BELIEVE he got outside with this in the first place, but he did. It was in the clubhouse when it stormed. A clubhouse that is not 100% protected from elements. Please pray these dry… for MY sanity!

My children LOVE chicken nuggets. It’s safe to say that at least once a week they are eating them. When I buy nuggets I really try to buy the ones that are the best tasting and most nutritious. I don’t like fillers so the 100% all natural is an added benefit. Tyson has some very fun foods that are child appealing! Fun Nuggets are one of them foods! They are shaped like dinos and the kids really really love them! They play while eating, but it’s still fun none the less. The traditional chicken nuggets are also very good. I love that they are very rich flavored. I also love that there is no pile of grease on the pan when I am done cooking them.

When you pair nuggets with your favorite dipping sauce they are even more pleasurable to your taste buds. Not only do the kids love them, I do. They are easy and quick to cook. With summer here I am all about products that are quick and that don’t require much time to cook. The less time I can have the stove on in the heat the better, but I also love the fact that they are quick. Summer time means the kids are pretty mobile and don’t like to sit or wait to too long for anything, so finger foods are PERFECT for that! Every child loves chicken nuggets!!

Oral care is very important in our house. As a child I rarely made a visit to the dentist. My teeth later in life suffered because of that. I’ve had a lot of work done and even some cosmetic dentistry. As a result of this, I knew when I had my children I was going to be very proactive in their health and dental care. To this date they go to the dentist every 6 months. We rely on some great products to help maintain their care and keep them CAVITY FREE!

Colgate has been a brand that we are very happy with and continue to use regularly. The kids love the special characters on the toothbrushes and they come in so many different types. The spin brushes are personally our favorite. Dentists recommend them and I think they help kiddos conquer the spots that are a little harder to reach and make sure they are brushing in circles, which is recommended. I was {actually I still am} a HUGE fan of the different youth care toothbrushes and products for the kids. They are perfect for smaller mouths!

The children’s toothpastes are also nice. They work great, but I love that the flavors are more kid appropriate. It’s hard getting a little one to use minty toothpaste. They don’t like the feeling. I want them to get used to and keep brushing though. Colgate products have been amazing for that! They have several different toothpastes for kids and even some licensed character toothpastes! Overall, I love that Colgate Kids is so appealing to the kids. It makes asking them and expecting them to brush MUCH easier!

Part of back to school that I dislike the most it having to write names on EVERY thing! This year my daunting chore is being made so much easier. Label Daddy has sent us some labels to label all of my daughter’s school supplies. We chose the Back to School Pack. This package contains: 1 Bag Tag, 45 Extra Small, 30 Small, 20 Medium, 10 Large, 18 Mini shoe labels, 8 Shoe and 4 Zipper Tags.

Since we had a few extra labels, I used them to label things that are always getting lost around the house! These labels are nicely laminated. They won’t smear or lose the writing so this ensures everything labeled will remain labeled. When we went to order there are a variety of different colors that we could chose from for our label. This is nice because you can get them in your favorite color, school colors, or a simple color that matches everything. We went with pink, because that is my daughters favorite color! Then you get to pick an icon or picture from their library to add. They have many different styles of icons too. There surely is something for every boy, girl, baby or adult. You can also chose to leave the icon off if you wish! The smallest of the labels were GREAT for the Nintendo DS games, but I also used them on her markers and highlighters. They were PERFECT size. The zipper pulls we received were nothing short of amazing. Honestly, they are built nice and durable and I can see them coming in handy on all the sweaters and things we have to send to school, as well as her jacket. She LOVES the zipper pulls! I have to say, they could be my favorite too!

It’s safe to say that Label Daddy labels have made my life SO much easier! I dread the entire name process every year. These are FAR more fashionable then a Sharpie, which is great, for the pre-teen things everything NEEDS to be FAB these days!

My daughter is very into the Disney channel and we are forever watching the Jonas brothers series there. It was only ideal that she wanted the CD when it was released on July 20, 2010. She was so very excited about the CD and the songs on it. We’ve actually added the album to her mp3 player that she has so she can rock out a little more with the Jonas Brothers.

Recently Disney sent us the new Jonas LA CD. I am very happy with this CD as a mom because honestly, I am not a complete fan of a lot of the music out these days. The underlying message in all of it is a little too much for me! And some of the lyrics I really don’t want my children repeating. I hate having to sensor music 110% before allowing my children to listen. This is why I love Disney music! The CD’s are friendly and I don’t have to worry about the types of messages being sent. The music is clean, it keeps the kids happy and I am thrilled! The CD is all new so the songs were songs that were not familiar to my daughter. This soundtrack is full of sensational summertime anthems to keep your head bobbing all year round. All the neighborhood kids love the songs too. We’ve quickly fallen in love with and have the favorite song, Things Will Never Be the Same. It’s a great song and I love listening to my children singing along! Way to go Disney! Another hit!
