This last week my family and I visited the Myrtle Beach area. We had an amazing time. We’d never packed all four of us up and relocated ourselves 1200+ miles from home. With that we had to find things that would entertain all of us. Myrtle Beach really does have a LOT of options and a lot of family friend things. Finding things to do wasn’t a huge issue.
One thing I had always wanted to try was parasailing. I knew I wouldn’t be able to jump from a plane and fall from the sky with a parachute, but in a controlled setting that Ocean Watersports offered, I felt comfortable enough to cross something off my bucket list. My wife debated on joining me on the adventure and the kids just didn’t want to. I tried to convince them but they really wanted nothing to do with it. My wife decided to join at the last minute, but then child care fell through and neither child was budging on going. At that I set out to parasail.
I called the day before and I made a reservation. This was easiest and confirmed our ride time. We opted for a 9am fly time so that we still had a lot of day left to do other things. I ended up parasailing with my wife’s uncle, Mike. Since he had wanted to parasail to, he got to cross that off his bucket list as well! We walked up and we greeted by Chuck who was a really nice. He explained things, we told him about our trip and the blog here. He did his best to make sure that we knew what to expect. We signed our waivers (standard procedure), put anything we wanted to keep on us in a plastic bag and left everything else safely with the desk staff. We were instructed to grab life vests. We suited up with them and as soon as the entire party was ready to go they put us on a banana boat and brought us out to the boat that we would lift off of and return back to. The banana boat ride was pretty neat. This is the first time I’d rode on a boat like this before. You do get wet and it takes waves similar to tubing behind a boat, so it was a thrill in itself. We got to our boat and we were greeted by Captain Al who was friendly and made sure we had a safe and fun flight!
