Post: It’s Time For A Party! What To Do To Pass The Time?

Halloween PartyTomorrow is Halloween, but I know a lot of my friends are doing their parties and celebrating this upcoming weekend. Some towns don’t even have trick or treating for the little ones until this weekend. Our trick or treating is tomorrow night, which is really a bummer. Even though we are in the very border of the Midwest, we are still there. In Wisconsin, we are surrounded by water on 3/4 of the state and let me tell you Hurricane Sandy is really showing her effects here. We’ve been told we will see 14-20 foot waves on the bay. If that happens there is a HIGH chance that some of the homes near us WILL flood. We are about 6 blocks inward of the water, so we wait and see.

Anyhow, our trick or treating is scheduled for tomorrow night and while we should be past the danger of the winds and everything else, it’s brought some very frigid and cold temperatures with it. This is typical of our Halloweens here though. They are known to be cold. It stinks for the kids. Some of the parties they have to attend were this past weekend and some are coming up this coming weekend. With the temperatures being so cold, we often have to find things INSIDE for them to do. The haunted trail and things like that ARE fun and can still be done, but we need to limit the time outside and most of the adults are just the same when it comes it the colder temperatures.

This leads me to find things in which can be done inside for all ages. We managed to get some Halloween sugar cookies for the kids to decorate and then some small bags so they can take them home. I also have a gingerbread type house I purchased at our local craft store, which is actually a haunted house, so I thought that would be a great group project! Keeping the kiddos entertained with crayons, molding dough and other things is simple. For the adults I had to think a little harder. The first thought I had was some bingo from partybingo.com. It’s fun and the adults will it. Then there are some other games like pool and guess that drink. I thought all of them were wonderful and fun ideas that will keep everyone interested and not bored. I’d really love to have some karaoke too and see what the adults and kids do with that. Imagine how fun a family version of a karaoke song would be?!

What are some things that you do when you have parties? Do you plan for alternative things to keep the guests busy or is the mingling enough? What about the kids? I am curious on everyone’s thoughts, not just for a Halloween party, but for all the time!
