Whenever I talk about home security, there are a number of friends and my own home break in that come to mind. I remember how absolutely devastated we were after it happened. We felt so violated in a way that we never should have felt. Our home was our safe haven and someone took it upon themselves to make sure that they not only got in, but made it noticeable that they had done so. It really broke my heart and made me afraid to be in my home, that safe haven we should have been safe in.
After the break in happened and we were going through insurance and cleaning up the mess, we decided the one thing we NEEDED to do was get some sort of low cost security that we could count on to not only make us feel safe, but to make our home safe. We added in some Security lighting as well as door, window, garage door and other sensors that would alert us and also a security company should someone try to enter. This also ment that we needed to add a home phone, something we haven’t had in years. My family’s safety depended on it though.
I feel MUCH safer now that we have a security system. We are religious about keeping it on when it needs to be or when we are not home. So far, we’ve had our system installed for over 10 years and we have not had any problems. I am hoping things stay that way. Had I know that I would fall victim to a home invasion, I would have had the security system, security lighting and security alarms installed much sooner. Is your home protected? Have you been a victim of a home break in? Would you consider installing a home security system?
