With the warm summer days upon us, my children are outside from sun up until sun down. They often enjoy a variety of activities in their days and this can include a lot of exposure to the sun. I am a parent that takes anything involving my children seriously, VERY seriously. I never want to set them up to face complications later in life. Sun exposure can be very dangerous and can lead to melanoma (skin cancer). Melanoma accounts for up to three percent of all pediatric cancers. Ninety percent of pediatric melanoma cases occur in girls aged 10-19. I don’t know about you but those stats just scared me to the bone!
